Nature Journaling Our Way Through English and Science

Help me give my students the opportunity to learn English and biology through nature journaling! We need sketchbooks, hand lenses, colored pencils, and some other supplies to record our observations, inquiries, and discoveries.

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Nature Journaling is an effective and valuable approach to learning. This nature journal project will reinforce and supplement what my 9th and 10th grade English Language Learners are learning in their Biology class.

The sketch books, pencils, pens, hand lenses, and other equipment will allow my students to observe nature both on campus and off campus, record data, and anayze data.

They will gain first hand experience participating in real, meaningful science practices as well as improve their English proficiency, both conversational and content based-language.

In addition, spending time outdoors has documented positive health and psychological effects, which can enhance learning.
