Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students in our Indian Education Program are learning about Indigenous art, games, and celebrations this year. This project allows students to make a variety of traditional Native games out of natural materials and jingles for Powwow dance regalia.

This project strives to be culturally sustaining; students will learn about their Native heritage as they engage with traditional art, games, and celebration.

We are highlighting a variety of tribal nations from all across the country. Students will engage with sand painting from the Navajo Nation, games of chance and skill from as practiced by many native tribes, and pottery in the Pueblo style of Maria Martinez. We will also use these materials in our annual Native American Heritage Month Celebration.
