My Students

My students have faced tremendous obstacles and endured unbelievable trauma during their short lives, and yet their hope for the future is palpable.

Not only do they want to improve their own lives through higher education or technical training, they also want to give back to their communities and support their peers as they navigate the difficulties of growing up in poverty.

Despite having faced abuse, hunger, mental health challenges, drugs in the home, abandonment, and dating violence, these students are motivated, focused, and hopeful about their capacities to positively impact the world around them. They inspire me and they inspire one another!

My Project

Decision Day at our school is set for early May and is our chance to let our students know just how proud of them and all their hard work we all are. Now that the year is coming to a close and they are reviewing financial aid awards with their families and weighing out their options it is time to celebrate all their hard work and accomplishments.

Our seniors did their part and put in the work and now we want to give them the best, which is why we are seeking funds to cover the costs of party supplies for a dessert social and pep rally.

We will use the plates, napkins, balloons, and other party supplies to support this celebration. The gift cards will be given to students who have financial need in order to assist them in buying supplies for school. This celebration not only rewards our seniors but also plays a crucial role in our efforts to create a college-going culture for the school and gives underclassman something to look up to and work towards.
