This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a going through the process for becoming a National Board-certified teacher. For this process I have to do analytic, reflective and descriptive writing. I would like to take part in a professional development course by Tracy Bryant Stuckey online to help me with how to analyze my teaching practice using the 3 types of writing to describe my practice. Her course will give me specifics in knowing expectations for achieving my National Board certification. Tracy Bryant Stuckey is scorer for the Board and has been working as a mentor teacher for the Board for over 20 years. The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards is a very rigorous process and so I need all the extra information and support I can get to achieve certification. This online class will assist me in the certification process by giving me training tools, support and an online mentor to assist me in achieving certification. My area of study for the Board is English as a New Language. Students will benefit by me being a more reflective teacher and using research-based and best practice methods to reach these English Language Learners. This professional development will help me better understand the requirements for component 3 of the process which analysis of lessons I have taught and component 4 which is professional growth and collaboration with other teachers and stakeholders.
