Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a school with many low-income families and have the honor of teaching my K-1 rockstars! My kids have a wide range of abilities but they are tough and never give up! We work hard during the day but we like to play too! The students in my class are energetic, creative, and very curious! They have had to adapt to many changes in this year, but they are always ready to try something new.

I love working with my amazing students!

My kids deserve every little thing I can give them, and if I can help lower the burden on their families, to me it is worth every dime!

My Project

These yoga mats will provide a safe and comfortable surface for our students to learn to relax and stretch, learn personal space boundaries, and balance.

They will learn to stay in a designated area, practice crossing midline, regulate their vestibular systems to increase their balance for sitting, standing, and walking.

Yoga will teach our students hand-eye coordination, body awareness in space, and a social way to relax that is commonly recognized by the community.

Currently, we do not have these materials available to create a structured environment to prepare our students for yoga practice that will not only benefit them physically, but also mentally.
