My Students

Do you remember what it was like trying to find a book that you would enjoy? Well, my students have just discovered the series called My Weird School by Dan Gutman but they don't have adequate access to them to enjoy.

We are a class of 16 Special Education students who are struggling in reading.

It is a public school in an inner city. My students currently are in 7th and 8th grade but are only reading on a first and second grade level. We are trying hard and making progress but have a lot of work to do.

My Project

I have just introduced the class to a series of books called My Weird School. They are a series of books that are light, humorous and enjoyable! The students have really taken to these books and are asking to read more. This is the first series that I have found that the kids really want to read. I have reached out to the author and he will be skyping with my class to discuss his books. The students are so excited! We would like to read as much as possible before our chat so that when we talk with the author we can have a rich conversation about his books.
