My Students

My students are a diverse group of kids from the East NY section of Brooklyn growing up in low income families. My students have chosen the fully remote platform for school this year. Many of the students come from local shelters and need extra LOVE CARE & SUPPORT at school. My students are creative, thoughtful innovative and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!

Every child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, and my students are becoming enthusiastic learners.

In the classroom we incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!

They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!

My Project

Like many students around the world, my student's lives may be a bit upside down as a result of COVID-19. The structure of their days has changed, learning has changed, and many are working alone for hours each day. It might be difficult for them to imagine when things will go back to normal or when they’ll be able to get back to doing what they love.

Teaching students how to understand and process their emotions is incredibly important now, more than ever.

To help picture a better future, I want them to create vision boards that reflect their goals, aspirations, and dreams.

A vision board is a visualization tool that gets students thinking about what they want to accomplish either academically or personally. With a vision board, students create visual representations of goals through a collage of pictures and words. The board serves as a daily reminder of what students want to achieve and helps motivate them to make their vision a reality.

Creating art that engages and strengthens your social and emotional muscles is a great way to make connections between feelings and creativity.
