This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The magical tension of the endless rally finally breaks into a roar of triumph on one side and a quiet steeling of resolve on the other. "One more time!" Someone shouts, as they all launch forward into the next point.

For some of the young scholar-athletes at tryouts last week, this was their first time experiencing the thrill of volleyball.

For others, it was just one reason why they decided to come back.

Each person having their own volleyball to practice with at home means that they will not only have increased access to these glorious, unforgettable moments, but also to ALL of the holistic, lifelong benefits that are accessible through this team sport--a clear, personal definition of what leadership means, the wisdom to build, heal, and maintain healthy, meaningful relationships, and a slew of significant physiological health benefits.

For the 16 scholar-athletes (12 players and 4 managers) at ANLA in South Central Los Angeles, where all of our students are eligible for free lunch, most are the children of first-generation immigrants, and the nearest volleyball club is over 10 miles away (about 3 hours round trip by public transport), your donation is especially meaningful in making an equitable impact.
