This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are the ages 10-14 years old with a wide range of different abilities. What I love most about our students is their excitement and energy they bring with them each and everyday. The challenges they face just to make it to school sometimes is enormous. There are times when basic needs are not being met, yet they come to school each day with the hope in their eyes.

Most of all what I love about our students is the fact that they may not have all the opportunities others have, but they are so generous when it comes to helping their friends in need.

They are always looking to give of themselves, when often times have so little, or are often marginalized by society in general. I just want people to see the value they can offer to our school and community.

My Project

Often students with disabilities are all too often overlooked as having value in our schools. There are not enough safe zones for our students to engage in their own school. often our schools are preoccupied with tests scores and achievements that rate individuals in schools. As a result, students can be left behind who do not meet that standard. All Students, especially students, who happen to have a disability face the same pressures without any real consideration. Music is proven way to engage all students regardless of ability to be part of their school. Thus making school fun and important again.

Music is a way for students to learn about Math and Science, but also Art, attention,social and emotional needs, stress relief and allowing students discover who they can become.

Most of all, music is way my students can express themselves in a positive and fun way, which they may not have thought possible.
