My Project

Hello, I am a special education teacher in an elementary behavior classroom for students in grades 3 to 5. These students have been identified with specific learning needs and behaviors that interfere with their learning in the regular classroom. I am trying to provide the most welcoming environment for their emotional and educational success. My students excel with many hands-on building activities to explore their creativity. It helps them learn how to communicate and work together with their peers. Sitting still can be an easy task for some children, but my children need alternate forms of seating to support their attention needs. It is also necessary to offer my students a way to express their energy and help them use it in a productive way to enhance their learning and ability to concentrate. My students use a lot of visual prompts, schedules and ways of communicating. My students struggle with many skills, but the two they struggle with the ost is undertanding money, and multiplication. I am trying to provide hands-on manipulatives that will not only make learning fun, but help them learn in a way that can help them be successful. My classroom is a regional program that is fairly new to my district. Some items are not available so a computer cart will help keep the technology items charged and easily accessible and organized for my students. This will help teach them to be responsible and work on organizational skills that they will need for success in all stages of their life.
