This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I strive to ensure every student who wants a sketchbook has access to a good one regardless of their family's economic status and your donations will ensure that.
The most important tool an artist needs is a sketchbook.
In a sketchbook, students can brainstorm ideas, explore interests, and create original pieces of art. Additionally, sketchbooks are a safe place for mistakes, which all students need.
When it comes to art in 4th and 5th grade, it helps a student's confidence if they have the right tools to explore and develop their skills. At this age they often get discouraged and struggle to create the idea they envision. By having a sketchbook, students have a tool to help then get the practice they need to bring there ideas to life. In my classroom, my goal is that all my students have the tools they need to discover what amazing artist that they are.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
