My Students

Mathematics education is ever-changing, and today's high school students need access to technology in order to participate in a global society.

Many of the students at my school come from middle and lower class households that are struggling to make end's meet.

They come from hard-working families that are forced to make difficult financial decisions each month. An expensive graphing calculator is simply a luxury that they cannot afford. Because of this, the students are at a decided disadvantage when competing with their peers at other more affluent schools.

My Project

These graphing calculators allow students to instantaneously analyze functions without having to go through the painstaking process of doing the computations by hand. Students can view multiple functions at once and draw conclusions based on the data that the graph represents.

These calculators are now "standard equipment" for students at wealthier schools and I would like to provide the same opportunities for my students.

Not only will these calculators be used by my students in the classroom, but they can also be used when the take the SAT and ACT tests. These tests go a long way toward determining who is accepted into college and the calculators "levels the playing field" for my students.
