My Students

The students at my school need technology to keep up with their peers at other more affluent schools.

Mathematics education is ever-changing and today's high school students need access to technology in order to compete in a global society.

Many of the students at my school come from middle and lower class households that are struggling to make end's meet. An expensive graphing calculator is simply a luxury that they cannot afford. Because of this, they are at a decided disadvantage when competing with their peers at these other schools.

My Project

Graphing calculators will allow my students to instantaneously analyze functions without having to go through the painstaking process of doing the computations by hand. The students can view multiple functions at once and draw conclusions based on the data that the graph represents. This is a fascinating way to allow today's students access to "real world" mathematics.

Not only will these calculators be used by my students in the classroom, but they can also be used when the take the SAT and ACT tests.

These tests go a long way toward determining who is accepted into college and the calculators "levels the playing field" for my students.
