Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students from our high school reside in a low socio-economic community. Many of them come from single parent homes where one parent often has to work two or three low-paying jobs, just to pay rent and put food on the table. Many will be the first one in their family to graduate.

My students deserve to have the same advantage that all high school students have, a rigorous curriculum in computer science that prepares them for a 21st century career.

As their teacher and role model, I in turn, need to have the training, knowledge and skills to prepare them. This professional development will ensure that I can help my students develop the necessary skills to ensure a successful future.

My Project

I am requesting funds to attend a professional development that will enhance my knowledge in this field. Technology is constantly changing, making it necessary to for a teacher to stay up-to-date with these innovations. This conference will provide me with invaluable information that I can take back to my classroom and share with my students. Additionally, it will improve my practice by arming me with new strategies to engage students and create interesting activities that support the learning of all student.

More importantly, this professional development will allow me to differentiate instruction and meet the individual needs of every student in my classroom
