Help Ms. Hookway

Help students learn science on their level! I am one of three third grade teachers who focuses on science and mathematics. I work in a school of low poverty with students from low income areas. Our school promotes our community and the community is welcome any time to come and volunteer. We have many people who are buddies and help tutor one on one.

My students are in love with science. Unfortunately our materials are very lacking. Our student books are very old. We only have enough copies for every three students. It is very difficult to share a book among three. The books are also very above their level and many of them can't understand them. We are in need of materials which are fun and exciting, but at the same time on their level.

We need materials on the students' level. You will help purchase three resource books which will give me the tools for the students to have hands on experiments. The last resource is a discovery box which will allow students to explore life science such as plants and soil.

You will make it possible for my students to learn science. They will be able to see things outside of the classroom and connect it to what they are learning in the classroom. Through these projects students interest in science will grow. In the end I hope I have many students interested in completing a science fair project where the possibilities are endless.
