My Students

I am a first year teacher working in a brand new school for students with severe Autism. I teach in a school district that only provides a certain amount of funds to the educators. I currently teach four students who are funny, active and have made so much progress this year.

Since this was a brand new school and I was a first year teacher, I was only able to provide students with certain amenities that would foster a safe learning environment.

Since the beginning of the year, I have been able to witness the progress that has been made in my classroom. The students have truly learned and grown as students. This particular group of students have exceeded the expectations I set out in September. They have taught me so many things that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I have learned that this is truly my calling and I would love to provide the students with everything that they need and truly deserve.

My Project

The materials would help my students everyday in the classroom. Whether this be work center or free time, the items will be loved by the students. My students could happily use each item throughout the day!

"When you teach a person with Autism, they teach you." My students need the sensory output that each item could provide!

My students could use the wobbles during work center in order to maintain focus and have sensory output that they need. The weighted blankets can calm and relax the students during free time. The kids can read stories with staff and feel that they are receiving what they need. During work center, the students can place the blankets on their laps and receive the sensory output that they need! The items will be well loved be every single student in the classroom.
