Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a new high school teacher. It is actually my first year of teaching. I am a New York City Teaching Fellow and I cannot be more excited as I am now. I teach Chemistry and STEAM. My STEAM students are very excited about building many things from robots to airplanes.

My students have never been exposed to designing, building and the use of the engineering process.

As a teacher, I am trying to build confidence and rigor in them and I am trying to make them believe in themselves; they can be the next somebody and they can accomplish and achieve anything they want. My students like to try different ideas and build different projects all the time.

My Project

My students have been always asking " When can we build Robots, we want to build robots" I introduced them to some theory behind robotics, but it was not satisfying. At this point of the school year, I want them to build robots and be more creative with their ideas.

My students will Build, Program & Control with the Robotic Building System Kit!

This engaging robotics set aims to teach my students how to apply programming skills to operate various K'NEX models.

Students will design and build fully-functioning models, write computer programs, and use the Robotics Programming Software to communicate with and operate the models to solve Challenge Activities outlined in the lesson plans.

My students are very creative, I enjoy listening to their ideas in the classroom. Funding their project has been always a challenge for me as teacher and the school as well. With this project, my students will bring their ideas to live. I cannot wait to see my students creativity while building and programming these robots.
