My Students

I work in the South Bronx in a poor community. All the children receive free lunch. I am a Special Education Teacher and I work with 12 students. The majority of my student are boys and they all have a disability whether learning, speech or other.

As a special education teacher, I want to provide my students with all the resources needed such as sand to learn letters and words.

These students need books in order to read and learn. I have students who read level A book and I do not have these books in the classroom. I have about two students who read at level A books and I struggle finding these books.

A library will be great because all students will enjoy reading different leveled books. Teaching is such a rewarding experience. I love when I see my students faces excited and happy to have new resources. The classroom will be full of book and all the students will be excited to learn and explore new books. I ask that if you can please donate. Thank you.

My Project

I have sensory tables in the classroom. However, we do not anything to put inside. How sad! My student with special needs will be so happy to see sand and play with it.

Sand and playdoh are great because I can create centers.

These centers can help students learn their sight words. By learning sight words they can learn how to read. How exciting that my students will read and learn.

With Glue I can make Gak and many fun art project with my students. Students love to play with Gak and they make different things with Gak. They can use cookie cutters to make different shapes during math like circle, triangle and squares.
