My Students

My Pre-K students will be the youngest learners in the school. They will have their first experience of the public school system during a time of uncertainty. Working in a Title I school, my students come from low-income homes, with Covid-19 making things even harder for our families. All students in our school receive free breakfast and lunch during the school year. My students are faced with many challenges at home and in school. However, I want to make my classroom a safe haven for all my students, free of any limitations towards their growth.

My students deserve a safe and fun opportunity to learn at school and at home with school supplies, regardless of whether their parents can afford them or not.

I am determined to make this a meaningful journey, despite the circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic that will make their first experience of school quite different than ever before. I want to offer them all I can in school and at home that will nurture their academic, social, and emotional development.

My Project

My Pre-K students learn best through sensory exploration. Engaging in art activities is both fun and meaningful, as children discover how colors change when mixed together, and practice drawing and writing using different materials. However, this year students will not be able to share supplies as they have in previous years.

The classroom caddy bins will help limit the spread of germs, as each child will have their own supply of writing and art materials.

Each child will also receive writing and art supplies to use at home, as they engage in remote learning on some days.
