Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at Title I-funded school where all students receive free breakfast and lunch. I have high expectations for growth and academic achievement for my students. Along with our curriculum, I teach typing, coding, and chess. School is a safe and happy place where my students love to come and explore with me. For many of my students, being at school and learning is the best part of their day. I teach Math and Science to 2 classes of second graders.

My Project

I'd like to provide my students with math manipulatives that help close the COVID-19 learning gaps they have experienced, while remaining socially distanced. Having these manipulatives will allow students to manipulate math concepts. With each student having a set of tools to only share with one other student, we will reduce the spread of germs and allow a hands-on learning enviroment for my second graders.

COVID-19 learning gaps are inhibiting students from reaching their full potential and these tools will help my students close those gaps.
