FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Boyce's classroom raised $472
This project is fully funded
My classroom has a group of children who have emotional and behavioral disabilities. They are in grades 3,4 and 5. The children are all below grade level in their writing ability. If you were to poll this class, you would get a 100% vote that writing is their least favorite thing to do.
Their writing ability is very low and more importantly their desire to write is even lower. One of the classroom goals I have set this year is for every child to see some improvement in their writing skills. As I have stated improving their desire to write is the key.
One writing project I would love to implement in my classroom is having the children write a book about themselves using pictures of their lives as their model. I want to send home a disposable camera with each child. I want the child to take pictures of their life at home. They can take pictures of their parents, their dog, their room, their brothers or sisters, grandparents, neighborhood friends, their tree house etc. We get these pictures developed and the children write about each picture and create a book about themselves. I would like to have a book publishing party once the books are completed and invite the children's parents in to read the completed book with their child and to have a small party celebrating the completion of their project.
