My Students

I currently teach kindergarten students at a small town elementary school in South Carolina. My kindergarten kids come from a variety of different economic backgrounds, and despite their obstacles, come to school full of life and ready to learn! My students are energetic , curious, and love to stay busy. When I include STEM learning in my classroom, my students can create, build, and problem solve. My students would truly benefit with materials and building sets that encourage exploration. My kindergarten kids want to be Engineers!

My Project

My kindergarten students need materials, building sets, and storage for a Engineering Center in my classroom. My students will use these materials to explore, create, and build as part of STEM learning in kindergarten. STEM learning includes science, technology, engineering, and math. Kindergarten students are naturally curious and love to design and use their creative thinking skills. STEM lessons are perfect for our busy students that need to move and touch.

I want to provide my students with learning experiences that will encourage an interest in engineering, science , math, and technology.

Research shows that by the time students reach fourth grade, a third of boys and girls have lost interest in science. By the eighth grade 50% have lost interest or deemed it irrelevant to their education or future plans. STEM is a way to connect girls and all kindergarten students with activities that encourage engineering, science, math, and technology in my classroom. Please help my kindergarten kids to develop into scientists and engineers!
