Dancing like the stars in an Indiana Elementary School!
I teach Dance and Drama to grades 1-5 in an elementary school. Dance and Drama is the 5th related arts. We are becoming a School of Integrating Arts in 2010. This is the 2nd year for this program.
Our school is high-poverty and the district, like many others, has made serious budget cuts.
The children love coming to dance class, however our room does not say "dance room". We were able to buy mirrors for the classroom, now we need a ballet barre. The barre will be used to teach technique in different styles of dance and be a great tool for exercises and stretching.
We need two 14' barres for the school. Each class has around 30 students, so the long barres would be able to fit 16 students, 8 on each side. Having these barres would be a great asset for this class and these children.
You will make it possible for my students to experience new things in dance class. These barres will help make them leaner and stronger through different sets of exercises we will be able to do each class period. Without the barres we loose that important aspect of dance class: warm-up and stretch.
We NEED these barres to create the ideal dance classroom.
