I teach fifth grade in a Talented and Gifted school which is in a high needs community in New York City. We have students commute from all five boroughs on buses, the subway, and by car in order to attend our school.

My students deserve art. They are in need of art. They have art class with their art teacher only once a week for 45 minutes. After preparation time, set up, and clean up, my students only receive 20 minutes of actual art time. Many of my students' talents lie in art, and they come with artistic abilities that they rarely have the opportunity to exercise.

I would like to teach and infuse art into the areas that I teach, since I am a classroom teacher. However without the supplies, it will be impossible for me to do this. These art supplies: watercolors, brushes, oil pastels, colored pencils, and paper will enable my students to fully think, question, reflect, and wonder when it comes to art. They need art in order to go deeper with their thinking.

You help will make it possible for my students to experience art in the classroom. They won't have to wait for every Thursday to experience a few minutes of art. They are talented, and they need to be using their talents as they create and learn. Your help will make a difference for them.
