My Students

Did you learn math by doing worksheets and problems from a textbook? There's a better way to learn math. Imagine students learning math by doing activities that allow them to explore mathematical concepts.

I teach fifth grade in a high poverty school.

Many of my students are advanced in the area of mathematics and love doing it. They finish their math lessons quickly. Several of them want to achieve a perfect score in the area of math on the state standardized test.

My Project

I am requesting math manipulatives, math literature, and math resource books so that I can provide hands-on activities to my students as they strengthen their math skills. A hands-on approach to math will also encourage my students to talk about the math concepts they are learning, and therefore learn them better.

My fabulous fifth graders love math!

The math resources I am requesting will engage them in constructing their own knowledge about the math concepts they are learning. The social interaction that takes place as the students are doing the activities will help them become mathematically powerful!
