My Students

I teach 6th grade in the Bronx, NY. My students are a diverse group of learners. My classes have thirty students per class with a few meeting grade-level standards but the vast majority struggling to make gains and to stay engaged in learning year.

My students are enthusiastic learners but engagement is key.

They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have them this year, even from afar!

My Project

Having a Smartboard in classrooms today is the norm. I have taken it for granted and boy oh boy is it missed!

But the use of whiteboards is a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math.

Using their desktops, students are able to show their work after watching a model. The whiteboards allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. Having a whiteboard at home will help us adjust to online instruction all the while making it engaging and meaningful!
