My Students

Kindergarten students are just beginning to learn how to function in an academic setting. Many of my students come from homes that, for whatever reasons, aren't providing academic learning experiences. I want to help them to be more independent in taking care of their journals and books and accessing them when needed. These skills will help my students function more effectively as they progress through school.

My classroom is full of a lively group of kindergartners who love to learn!

Unfortunately, they do not always have the materials needed to support their learning. We are a Title 1 school that is located in a high-poverty area of Florida. At our school, over 90% of our students receive Free and Reduced lunch.

My Project

Every child wants things to call their own. In this case, I want my students to feel ownership of their learning supplies. Because their supplies will be readily available to them in their seat sacks, they will feel empowered and independent. We will not lose valuable instructional time passing out materials. Students can access their own supplies, when needed.

Kindergarten students want to be independent but organization is a skill that still needs to be developed.

I believe organized people are more successful and an organized classroom is more effective. Seat sacks for all my students will be the key to achieving both organization and effectiveness.
