Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We learn so much about our world and ourselves through reading. I use books to teach my students new concepts and to open up dialogue with them. We have many wonderful discussions centered around books and students sharing their experiences. It increases their interest in and excitement about the knowledge presented in the book.

I want them to see themselves in the books too and therefore many of the books will reflect their culture and their heritage as well.

Representation does matter and I want them to be proud and comfortable with who they are in school and in their community. Sometimes, it starts with a book.
