Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Despite what many people think, teenagers do READ books! I have students visit the library daily in search of a good book to read, and often ask how many books they can check out at once! Most of our students come from working class families with very little money to spare. They use books as an escape and often learn how to cope from the stories they read. Keeping up with the demand for current books is a daunting task but worth it to see smiles on the students' faces.

My Project

Our students love to visit the library and check out good books. Our students have been asking for manga books. I would like to have a library collection that has something for everyone. Expanding the current library collection with manga books will tap into student interests that have gone unfulfilled thus far. Students who are searching for manga books will be able to check them out from their own school library rather than having to look elsewhere. This means more students will have books in their hands which means more reading across campus!! Starting a new collection can be a difficult task, but box sets like Bleach and Naruto will get the collection off to an amazing start!
