This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Help my students experience a 7-week virtual musical theatre residency with professional teaching artists from New York City Center.

Since the establishment of our afterschool musical theatre program, many students across our school have taken a special interest in musical theatre.

However, not every student gets to experience what it is like to rehearse and perform. Enter City Center!

Through virtual teaching, these musical theatre professionals will expose our students to one of City Center's amazing revival productions. Students will compare and contrast aspects of an original script and production to a new interpretation. Then, they will make their own artistic decisions to create an entirely new imagining of the same story.

With each week of the residency, each class will work on their singing, dancing, acting, and devising skills and become even stronger as an ensemble.
