This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My student musicians are amazing! 95% of them come to high school not having ever had the opportunity to learn how to play an instrument, and it is my great honor and privilege to give them the skills and develop their passion for musical expression.

As a Title I school, we supply everything for our students to keep their instruments in good working order, which includes keeping them stocked with reeds, lyres, and instrument maintenance equipment, as well as replacing percussion equipment that gets worn out with so much use.

This project will help to keep our students playing without fear that they need to hold onto their reeds longer than they should, or playing on percussion equipment that needs replaced because there are so many students playing them. As we continue to play for in-school and out of school events, marching equipment like lyres to hold their flip folders becomes more and more necessary. Cleaning supplies help to keep the instruments in good working order.

These musical supplies will help my students to continue to develop their musicianship, without fear of "using everything up." We would appreciate this so very much!!

Mrs. Cruz-Iasiello will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by July 20.
