My Project

Research has been done showing the importance of Music for Special Needs children. Rhythmic movement helps develop gross motor skills and patterns. Music can help their communication, academics, and improve behavior.

My students are asking for musical instruments, a portable cd player, and headphones to use in our class and outside.

The headphones are to use with our listening center and a music app the students have on their tablets. They have a heard time using traditional headphones and the headband headphones might be more comfortable for them. The portable cd player is to replace the cd player we had that broke. It will also allow us to take the cd player outside to play music for the students. The musical instruments are for the students to use in classroom and outside. We can practice rhythm and patterns, as well as the beat.

My goal for this project is to help reach my students in a creative way, especially my non-verbal students. I also want to use music to help my students learn in different ways.

My students are very special. They are all so unique and teach us just as much as we teach them. I have some students who are verbal and many who are not. They all have their own disabilities, but one thing they all have in common is their love for music.
