My Students

My kindergarten students are curious, energetic 5 and 6 year olds. Their excitement to be attending elementary school for the first time is contagious. From their first to last day, they soak up so much learning that their academic and social growth is amazing to experience.

Our school is located in a small rural town with a close-knit community that supports our school's vision of "Creating a Community of Learners and Leaders".

Visitors to our school immediately feel the support that each member of our staff and community gives to our students.

My Project

Having portable mp3 players loaded with educational and fun songs to listen to will encourage learning. I will use these during our daily SPA time. Students listen to the music while relaxing at the end of our academic day.

Many students in my classroom have come to kindergarten with huge disadvantages.

Some have not been exposed to numbers and letters before kindergarten. Many are in need of intense intervention to catch up with their peers. I already incorporate a lot of singing and learning in my classroom. I think this will be a personal piece to help students focus one on one with the literacy and numeracy skills taught in the songs. Help me give these students the opportunity to listen and learn through music.
