My Project

I won't lie: plainly and simply, I just need graduation gifts (the cost for which I am unable to afford myself) for my students!

My seniors graduating this year have enriched my life so much and reminded me, daily, why I started teaching, and I just want to celebrate them and reward them for all of their hard work!

This particular gift is for one student whose genius I have fostered from Creative Writing all the way into my AP Literature class.

A previous donor donated some books on learning guitar and guitar stand for this student, but now they need a guitar to actually begin learning and playing music.

This student has been very frustrated over the years with our school's lack of music programs. Thus, my student is seeking self-education and to branch out on his own, academically and artistically speaking. I admire this to no end and want to support him in filling in the gaps of his education. This will directly benefit this student's self-directed education by helping them become a more well-rounded, cultured and sophisticated individual. This project will also help them to achieve a specific learning outcome: learning an academic and artistic skill (in this case, learning to read, write and play music). This skill they will carry with them into college and beyond.

(On a purely selfish note, I have also made this student promise me that, after graduation, and after he has mastered the guitar, he will return to our school and play my favorite Led Zeppelin songs for me...)

With your donations, I can send this student off to college on a self-driven (and designed) educational path with all the tools they may need!
