Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Sometimes a student's strengths shine through music and art. One of the things I remember most about elementary school is learning to play the recorder and eventually the clarinet.

I hope to provide my students with the memorable experience of playing the recorder, just like the experience that I had at their age.

The arts are incorporated throughout the day, but allocating time in the day or week to focus on learning to play an instrument will be an amazing opportunity.

This will also help me identify students that have a hidden interest and/or talent of music, one that I may not have uncovered without this opportunity. Ultimately, I can individualize instruction based on a student's love of music. I am also eager to learn to teach children to play the recorder, something that will be a new experience for me also!
