My Students

My students face numerous challenges inside and outside the classroom on a daily basis. I want them to have access to all the tools that students all over the world have available to them to be successful.

I teach at a title 1 school in New York City, in which 100% of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.

My students are faced with a wide spectrum of disabilities. We are dedicated to helping my students develop basic daily living skills. Unfortunately, the school district doesn't have allocate money for technology, since most of the funds go towards sensory equipment which could be very costly. I want them to have the same opportunities as students in the general population.

My Project

My students need to get up and move to help fight child obesity and get active. I want to start doing yoga, different exercises using therapeutic balls and Aerobic Exercises, but unfortunately my smart board speakers do not work. I want to get a good bluetooth speaker to play music and get my students up and moving. Without music the program will be hard to put into place since music is something we can all relate to and enjoy. I feel that my Adaptive Gym class will be helpful for my students to relax, unwind and will be a great coping mechanism.
