Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

“The dance is over, the applause subsided but the joy and feeling will stay with you forever.” - W. M. Tory. With the iPod and portable speakers new performance opportunities will be opened up to allow my students those moments of joy that will last forever.

My students work hard to create and express through dance and every opportunity to perform is something special.

They give up their own time in order to do what they love, dance. They are in the dance room before school, at lunch, afterschool and even some weekends both working on dances and homework for other classes. Dance has helped my students in many ways. Many have used it as a therapy session. Through dance they are able to express difficult emotion. I have also had many students return after graduating and tell me that dance is what made them graduate. In order to perform my students must be passing all their other classes, because of this the more performances we do the better their grades seem to be.

My Project

Last year my students had to turn down the opportunity to perform at a park event venue because there was no electrical plugs nearby and no cd player. The iPod will help make my students more portable dance performers. In order to provide my students with more performance opportunities our music system needs to be portable. With an iPod and portable speakers my students will be able to find alternative performance venues that are away from electricity and plugs. This change will also help the dance department become more green and environment friendly. With the addition of an iPod we will no longer need to burn individual Cd's of music for performances. For a typical concert we need to burn 15-25 individual Cd's for each dance, the iPod will make it possible to do away with the Cd's saving us money, time and waste.

With your help my students will have more performance opportunities and give them memories that will last a lifetime.
