Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a public kindergarten through eighth-grade school in a high-poverty, urban community in New Jersey. They love music class and are great musicians. Even though we don't have a budget for new materials, we find creative ways to make music together, even during this time of remote learning.

Due to the abrupt end of in-school instruction last year, my music classroom decorations and bulletin board supplies were not properly stored and ended up being destroyed.

My Project

When the pandemic began last year, my music classroom was not properly broken down and my materials were not packed up and stored as they usually are at the conclusion of the school year. Unfortunately, all of my classroom posters and bulletin board materials were destroyed. Now my classroom walls are bare and I need to start over gathering supplies.

When my students return for hybrid instruction in April, I want them to walk into a cheerful and welcoming environment.

If I received these new classroom posters and bulletin board materials, I could easily achieve this goal and have a space conducive for fun and engaging learning.
