My Students

Children love moving to music. Using scarves, ribbons, and puppets to demonstrate sounds and stories helps them relax be even more expressive.

Our school is a k-8 neighborhood school in a large urban district.

My students are a multicultural group with diverse backgrounds. Students' home experiences provide a rich and interesting school environment. We are a fun group who take pride in our academic achievements and our music program.

My Project

Young students use movement to describe music in ways they can't explain with words. Is the music smooth? fast? soft? They can show it in their movements before they can describe it with words. Using scarves, puppets, or ribbons decreases anxiety, and increases the students€engagement, allowing them to be even more expressive. Not to mention that the exciting materials will turn our music room into a magical place full of vibrant colors, texture, and shapes.

Children have a natural desire to create music.

Providing these beautiful manipulative materials will enhance that natural ability and help create an environment of learning through play, imagination, and beauty.
