Our students love coming to music class every week to sing, play, move, and create. All students in grade Pre-K through 8th grade have opportunities to learn music and be well-rounded citizens of the world.
These classroom instruments will provide tools for students to read music notation and create their own compositions.
This hands-on approach will increase their music literacy, which often supports academic literacy in reading and math.
Piano keyboards are useful because students can see the keys and play notes that are written on the staff. They can also explore the keyboard, creating their own melodies with accompaniments and rhythm tracks. Exposure to these instruments in class can spark interest to further their study in music in private lessons or other avenues.
Recorders will encourage our intermediate students, grades 3-5, to read notes on the treble staff. The decoding that is needed to see the notes, produce the correct fingering, and play properly utilizes the left brain and the right brain at the same time. This experience extends to their other academic learning., waking up their minds to work more efficiently.
