Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

There are limited materials available in my classroom for the almost 600 students who attend my class throughout the school week. The requested materials will provide students with the opportunity to work individually and in small groups in order to provide extra help to struggling students.

Studies have shown that students who study music improve their school work and are more likely to stay engaged in the classroom.

Through your donation, children of all learning styles and PK3-5th grade levels will have the opportunity to improve ear training, rhythm and fine motor skills and will have working station for all of their materials.Students will have the opportunity to mix learning and play through a variety of activities in a welcoming environment.

Items

I am requesting clipboards, pencils, dry erase boards, and dry erase markers. These items will allow students to practice writing and notation along and will provide a writing space in a classroom without desks. Clipboard holders and the pencil holder will help me create a student work station for students to grab materials before going to their assigned groups.

Dance ribbons allow students to explore movement during group work and when performing on stage. Puzzles and balance activities will develop the fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination necessary when practicing ukulele and guitar. I am also requesting a few books to practice music questions and guitar techniques.

A spinning prize wheel will motivate the students to work harder on their daily activities to win prizes. Stickers are also a great incentive and a treat for my students at the end of class; they provide a sense of accomplishment when students leave my classroom. As always, Kleenex and Clorox disinfecting wipes are necessary for keeping shared items clean for all students.
