My Students

Our school district spans five rural communities in the Eastern delta region of Arkansas. The area is large, and many students must ride the bus for long periods of time just to get to school. They depend on the school for transportation, food programs, and exposure to all things educational. We are a diverse population brought together for the purpose of learning.

With such diverse economic and cultural backgrounds coming together, our district strives to meet each student where they are and equip them for learning and progressing to the next level.

My Project

These supplies will help me maintain my spectacular "Music Marketplace" where students can purchase small prizes with their reward "gold tickets." Students will have to choose whether to save or spend their gold on a prize when the "Music Marketplace" opens each month. This is important for my students to learn these principals.

In my music class, students have the opportunity to earn "great day tickets" each week for coming to class and following our classroom rules.

Students also receive tickets for performing their assigned jobs, answering questions, and showing growth in various areas in the classroom setting.

The "Music Marketplace" model gives students the incentives they need to perform at the levels expected in class as well as learn about important economic principles of saving and spending.
