My Project

We are mostly a Windows school. All students in grades 2-6 are 1:1 with chromebooks. These are great for basic, every day computing and assignment completion. All in all, chromebooks are extremely convenient. Teachers also have school-issued PC laptops for classroom use.

As a music teacher who makes her own rehearsal and performance tracks, writes her own musical examples for classroom performance, these resources are not adequate.

While the chromebooks and PC laptops are great for basic computing needs, they simply aren't adequate for creative pursuits. Editing software, music-writing software, recording software - all of these are so much more efficient and all-around better quality on an Apple product.

Initial plans include using the MacBook to record and edit backing tracks for classroom performance, which is not only handy for me as their teacher, but also for a substitute (or if no substitute, can be shared with classroom teachers) and creating classroom exercises for the various instruments we play. I will be able to arrange my own choral music as well. I also plan on putting together at least two more digital music workstations so my students can use them to create and edit music and videos as classroom projects.
