Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students are all potential greatness waiting for that one special opportunity to shine. They have the drive to conquer any challenge, no matter how difficult, they rise to the occasion. Even when it comes to instruments, they have already started to experiment with creating their own.
Students volunteered to come to the new school that was closer to their house.
The school is in an urban environment where the crime rates keep students inside at night. We are fortunate for a new building, but we are lacking supplies.
My future musicians all receive free or reduced price lunch which sets them up to be ready to learn how music helps shape their lives. Not all my students will be contestants on the next American Idol, but I am sure a few of mine will be the judges.
My Project
Every student should be able to play some insturment during class. I do not like having children waiting to play an instrument. There are so many children that just have to get the instrument in their hand and they fall in love. Right now we do not have many instruments in my room so students are waiting for their turns. Having a keyboard would create more stations for students to go to and try to learn the keyboard.
Maybe I have the next Lisa Simpson waiting to be introduced to the saxophone.
I remember watching "The Simpsons" and being amazed at Lisa's "talent". The sax an amazing instrument that a lot of students want to try and master.
Everyone remembers their recorders from school. I would like to introduce my students to the recorders in a little bit of a different way. It would be great to introduce the students to the recorders in the sounds of Star Wars with the musical book of Star Wars melodies. It would be great to have something the students can relate to in my classroom with an instrument.
