Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a public kindergarten through eighth grade public school in a high poverty urban community in New Jersey. They love music class and are great musicians. Even though we don't have a budget for new materials, we find creative ways to make music together.

My students love the to play and compete so I know if we received these music games and activities, they would shine.

They would use their music education in a fun and engaging game setting.

My Project

My students will love to play these music based games because they enjoy peer to peer interaction and are all competitive. Games like Music Bingo and Fiddle Sticks will give them an opportunity to work in small groups and apply information they've learned in a fun way.

Everyone loves a challenge and I know my students will meet these musical games with enthusiasm.

They will get an opportunity to showcase their knowledge of the instrument families, musical notation, and rhythms as they compete against each other. I know this will be a refreshing change for them from our traditional music classes and it will give me the opportunity to observe what they have been absorbing without the students feeling the pressure of a teacher questioning them.
