This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work for a Title I community school, and we need beginner musical instruments to work with under-privileged students who are new to the music program. We think outside the traditional band route and teach them the basic fundamentals of piano, guitar, bass guitar and drums to open their eyes to the wonderful world of music. Unfortunately, our school budget does not allow for 1-to-1 instruments. At the moment, we are practicing with only 4 instruments for a class of 28 students.

My goals for this project are for students to learn the basics of music, reading/writing/playing music, and the music industry itself and all the opportunities it presents apart from actually playing music instruments.

My students are not your typical students; most are under-privileged, low-income, and less fortunate than most in public school. Along with me, they would be very appreciative of your support.
