My Project

A large gathering drum will give my young learners with disabilities opportunities to participate in group music-making experiences, where creativity and a variety of individual responses are welcomed. Drumming can be enjoyed by students of all ages with various support needs, resulting in an enjoyable and successful learning experience for everyone!

Exploring rhythm, tempo, and dynamics through group drumming, combined with a sensory garden, will facilitate expressive language, peer interaction, and collaboration; together, this supports the critical social-emotional learning (SEL) components of self-awareness and management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.

Some of my students are sensitive to sound but still enjoy creating music with exuberance! Noise-canceling headphones will support accessibility for these students. Surge protectors will replace old cords for a safer way to power up the equipment. Finally, with your support, sectioning off areas of the music room with dividers will create a safer environment with a clearly defined music-making space.
