My Students

My students are very creative and exciting to be around. They are learning with their whole bodies. They have been learning and growing through movement, exploration, discovery, and wonder. With hands-on play and learning our preschoolers have been learning to experiment, and interact with their peers as they work in groups or individually where a lot of learning happens.

They are learning to explore in order to make sense of their world, in the classroom, outside, and in their communities.

The materials will also help with inventiveness, by being encouraged to express themselves and understand cultural perspective through music they will develop a sense of innovation that will be important in their adult lives.

My Project

This project is going to benefit almost all of the children in my classroom during outdoor free-play. I want to facilitate learning and have instructional materials to benefit them. The bongo drums, and maracas I have selected are going to help our students to dance and move around the playground. We will use other music to encourage our students listen to multicultural songs, children’s music, and modern age-appropriate music. Some children love to dance, and others like to listen while doing small group and playing. The children will be inspired to create their own music using the triangles, shakers, drums, and sticks.

These materials will also help our students with their motor skills.

Many of the motions involved in using the drums and shakers require students to hold the instruments in a certain way. They will learn how to move to the beat, and create rhythm with their hands, bodies, and beats of sound. It will help them with language development, because they will learn a variety of vocabulary words such as naming each instrument correctly. Music will strengthen their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. The experience of making decisions and choices during creating music carries over into other parts of life. The materials will also help with inventiveness, by being encouraged to express themselves and take risks in sound and movement they will develop a sense of innovation that will be important in their adult lives.
