Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in my classroom is easy to describe. There is music happening all day long even during lunch time. The students never stop playing. By the end of the year I want my students to have the equipment they deserve. Favorite quote, "Excuses are the nails that build the house of failure."

My students are high school 9th - 12th grade.

They come from a school where 100% of the population qualifies for free or reduced rate lunch. Most students in the music department have a 12 hour day at school every day. Our concert band starts at 6:45 am every day and our after school practice ends at 6:00 pm every day. The students at this school simply work harder than everybody else and their dedication to their school, and more importantly to each other, is unmatched. My students might have struggles at home but their work ethic is an inspiration for me as their teacher. Put simply they are the best kids around.

My Project

The students will use the equipment to improve the overall quality of our music department. We need the padlock to keep our instruments safe. We need the repair kit to fix our own instruments and save money. We need the clamps to be able to use our mallet instruments to their full potential. We need the reeds because my students can't always afford to buy their own reeds.

This project will make a huge difference in the lives of the students.

They will have better equipment that works and be able to put on a better performance for their community. These students don't have a lot of financial support so this project will help immensely.
