My Students

Rescue us from Cd's that constantly skip and are difficult to locate. We love to exercise and dance in our NEW WORLD PHYSICAL EDUCATION program. PLEASE help us MOVE to great tunes :)

My students attend an inner city school in a low SES area.

If this project is a success, this iPod while be treasured by my many students (610 elementary school students). This would be the first iPod that many of my students have ever listened to and can call "their own", as they are not privileged enough to own an iPod. My students are NEW YORKERS; they have a lot of charisma and spunk. They love PHYSICAL EDUCATION. During every class period they are running, playing sports, exercising, and doing their favorite DANCING. MUSIC is one of their biggest motivators to exercise. Currently we only are using Cd's, but unfortunately the Cd's get scratched and are prone to skipping during the lesson. Also, it is difficult to change the song when we have to look through 30+ Cd's to find the correct song for the dance/activity.

My Project

I am requesting one 16G iPod. The iPod will change my students lives for the better because it will inspire and motivate them to move. The majority of the songs that we play in our PHYSICAL EDUCATION program are uplifting and motivating. Everyday hundreds of students leave our PE program feeling renewed and like they just won the lottery, simply because of the music and our course the lesson. Having this iPod will also add to the technology that we already use in our NEW SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION program (I have wrote several grants and our school has been awarded pedometers, stopwatches, and speakers (for the MP3 player/iPod that we are still desperately in need of). My students will learn better with the iPod because we will have the ability to quickly change the music (as needed). Also, having the iPod with help to minimize the distractions.

Donations to this project are needed and will with no doubt impact the lives of over 600 students.

Having music in our PHYSICAL EDUCATION program will motivate hundreds of students to establish and maintain a HEALTHY level of FITNESS FOR LIFE. It will inspire students to keep going when they sometimes get tired and feel like giving up. This iPod will provide music to uplift students who are very underprivileged and would love to have a piece of technology that they can call their own.
